What are the advantages and disadvantages of insulin hypogly
Advantages: Rapid, powerful, is the most powerful hypoglycemic agent. There are few adverse reactions, especially the use of human recombinant insulin. Effective for patients with type 1 diabetes.
Disadvantages: Need to be injected, need to closely monitor blood sugar. Although there are few adverse reactions, it can cause hypoglycemia shock or even death. Some people may be allergic to some components of the insulin preparation.
Unlike many ordinary people imagine, the use of insulin in the early stages of diabetes helps protect residual islet function.
The treatment of diabetes is mainly to prevent and reduce the occurrence of complications, and in order to achieve this goal, all treatments are centered around the control of blood sugar at a normal level. Insulin as the core means of human body control of blood sugar under physiological conditions, its hypoglycemic effect and human adaptability are unmatched. What is really worth worrying about is the problem of hypoglycemia caused by excessive insulin. Therefore, patients who use insulin, especially insulin pumps, should always carry some sugar, preferably glucose, to avoid hypoglycemia. Ordinary patients do not need to worry that they are "addicted" to insulin.
Insulin is a protein and therefore cannot be administered orally. Once the international giant tried to develop a spray to replace the injection, it seems to have failed. For patients with type I diabetes and other absolute insulin deficiency, do not stop using insulin at will, otherwise it will lead to life-threatening acute complications such as ketoacidosis and hyperosmolar coma.
